Ensure you have the correct equipment
You will need:
- Scrubbing brush
- Masking tape
- Paintbrushes
- Lazy susan
- Terracotta Primer
- Accent Small Projects water based x 2 colours
- P240 grit sandpaper
1. Prep
Start by cleaning the pots. Run the pots underwater and gently scrub them with the brush, removing dust, dirt, and grime. Allow the pots to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
2. Prime
Next, place your first pot on the Lazy Susan and carefully apply a coat of terracotta primer to both the inner and outer surfaces. Priming is an essential part of the process as it functions as a base for the paint to bond to.
3. Paint colour A
Using a brush, paint the pot with your first colour. Allow the paint to dry for two hours. Once dry, gently sand the pot and apply a second coat of paint.
4. Paint colour B
Again, allow the paint to dry for two hours. When it is completely dry, place masking tape around the pot to mask off for your second colour. Repeat the painting process for the second colour and allow the pot to dry before using it.
